Countertops

Granite

Granite Countertops have widely become the favorite for kitchen counters worldwide. Its beauty and durability have made granite a favorite choice since ancient times. Nothing speaks of elegance and grandeur quite like granite.

This majestic stone is resistant to mold, mildew, bacteria, scratching and staining making it an excellent choice for kitchens, bathrooms, fireplaces, flooring and more.

Marble

Marble is a natural stone that has been used for centuries as a building material, and is known for its soft and unique beautiful look, one that is not found in any other material.

Marble is high in calcium carbonate, and softer than granite. Marble is prone to acid etching of the surface, primarily caused by highly acidic drinks such as cola, fruit juices etc, but much like, wood, marble can be refinished if necessary.

Quartz

Quartz surfaces are manufactured with 93% natural quartz, and 7% polymers making this combination very scratch resistant and maintenance free.

It is unnecessary to seal quartz as it is a manufactured product. This makes quartz one of the most durable countertop materials available.

Quartzite

Quartzite is one of the newest and exciting options for natural stone because a lot of Quartzite slabs are similar in beauty to marble, but even more durable in many cases.

Typically, Quartzite is a more expensive natural stone, however many find it is worth the investment for high-use applications, such as a quartzite counter in the kitchen or bathroom, over the long term.

Quartzite can be divided into two categories: hard and soft. Hard quartzite is the most durable and has a similar or more durability to Granite. It won’t scratch, stain, and is not sensitive to acid. Soft quartzite is in between marble and granite in terms of durability. It is generally more durable than marble, but still has some calcium carbonate and therefore can be sensitive to acid etching

Laminate

This product is completely man made. It has been used for countertops since the 1940’s. Over that time it has gone through many changes. Although it may not be as appealing as the stone options, it is still widely used. Laminate countertops are very affordable when compared to the stone products. Colours and patterns are too numerous to mention, and now there is the ability to shape them. All these factors make laminate countertops a popular choice.
